Compatibility of studies and individual life situations
The high degree of personal responsibility of students for financing their studies and for caring for themselves, children and other family members within diversified family structures will be taken into account by providing the greatest possible flexibility and support, for example through:
- Collection of data on the course of studies and the studyability of study programmes, taking into account different life situations and social group affiliations; use of the findings in the updating of study plans;
Diversity Report of the Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE-QUEST)
- Flexibilisation of study, doctoral, habilitation and examination regulations, introduction of part-time study programmes and occupation-accompanying study programmes, expansion of the range of foreign-language courses on offer, while at the same time ensuring that studies are completed within the standard period of study;
Compensation for disadvantages for students with family responsibilities or in other special situations ( for instance in the case of a severe disability);
- Supplementing attendance times with other forms of teaching, learning and e-learning;
- Establishment of (flexible) care services for children of students close to universities;
- Development of financial support possibilities for students with family responsibilities and in special situations;
"Study and Teaching" Foundation
- Campus and classroom design suitable for the disabled and children.
