Integrating gender studies and diversity studies into curricula

The fundamental differentiations and categorisations of identity, especially with regard to gender, ethnicity/nationality and disability, in our culture result in clearly different preconditions of knowledge. Within the framework of the study programme, topics from the field of gender studies and diversity studies are therefore included in order to promote awareness-raising, strengthen self-reflexiveness and identify mechanisms for the construction of inequality in and through science and professional cultures:

The following interdisciplinary questions are to be focused on:

  • Addressing the professional history and development of the disciplines from a gender and diversity perspective and the analysis of occupational social inequalities;
  • Sensitising students to the implications of the categories of gender and diversity for science, research and practice in their discipline;
  • Reflection on the forms and contexts of knowledge (re)production and the resulting inequalities.
